Tony Robbins Kit, Any Good?
Hey guys,
As an insomniac, I keep seeing this infomercial for Tony Robbin kit, “Get The Edge” over and over. Now I am somewhat tempted in purchasing his kit since I think I need to "Get The Edge" but curious if this edge is worth $200. Has anyone used his kits and found it useful. Your opinions would be great appreciated. Thanks |

After seeing Tony Robbins live and listening to his words of wisdom, I decided that he's just a modern day snake-oil salesman.
Save your money. On his BEST day, all he does is shout common sense at you.

HeyAgain, go to your main public library. You are likely to find his CDs or books their. I saw them in mine.
I listened, and he is certainly a modivating speaker, but I dunno about being the god that others make him out to be. I did learn to be more thankful and see the brighter side (i am a pesimist and a cynic). |

A running gag around my house is the Tony Robbins tapes my mom bought about ten years ago. They just collect dust in the garage. Never used.
Guess she got the edge while they were in transit

I'm into motivational books, not tapes, not coaches, or mentors... I do appreaciate mentors, but not the motivational ones.
Now that said, I strongly believe that no matter what you do, buy something or not, it's not going to make the difference in your life until you mentally resolve for it to happen. Get off your duff and do it. Period.

My dad had the Personal Power and I tried it for a while. I really don't think it lived up to his hype, I sure as hell wouldn't pay $200 for it! It did help me get rid of this bad habit I had of biting on the inside of my cheek. I never really completed the program, so much of it was too corny for me.

Of course it doesn't work, unless you go to the seminar, duh!
That'll be $75 for my advice, and another $2000 for the seminar, and if that doesn't work, another $10000 for the weekend retreat.

Nah, I listened to the first CD via the mp3 file, and found it boring and useless.
Basically, it was him, bs-ing for 40 minutes in order to fill one CD. He probably recorded the first CD without any audio editing. You can hear him bumping into the microphone several times. IMO, Anthony Robbins is an individual who loves to hear himself talk and talk and talk. Why can't I find something useful and legit via infomercials? |

We actually had one of his speakers come to my work and give a "motivational speech", it was more like a motivated sales pitch. The guy was full of shit and we called him on it and he tried to weasel his slimy ass out of it. Some of the more gullable unconfindent people in the office bought into the BS and went to the seminar and said it was great. Do they seem more motivated or successful a year later??? Hell no. It's all a bunch of crap.
You are capable of doing whatever you want to do in life. You are a strong successful wonderful person. You are in control of your destiny. You now owe me $2,000!!!! I accept cash, money order, or paypal. |

another point of view.
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I actually registered only to give my 2 cents about my experience of all these audio tapes / self-improvement programs and such from Tony Robbins.
First of all I don't have anything to do with his business.. in fact the first time I bought his program Personal Power II I was a drug dealer who used to sleep at 3-4am because I thought I was insomniac and I didn't have any chances with women .. only getting laid once in a while with a "ugly face / nice looking body" kind of girl who I only could think of as a F*ck friend... I had started studying in college but the more time passed by the more I was getting addicted to drugs and the less I was doing well in my study. Basically I didn't have any experience at all, I didn't want to go on with what I had started studying for a carreer and I was completly lost gaining and losing money in a dangerous underground world. So what can I say about the subject. First I think that it motivated me a little bit more to study the program, to be commited and to actually force myself to do the exercices only because i didn't want to look stupid having invested 500$ on a program I wouldn't even use. So weither you pay for it or not might not change anything but I know for myself that I didn't want to consider the purchase as another "loss". And also, now that I bought at least 1 program, I don't feel guilty or even less motivated to download other programs which I find to be really useful like "Power to influence people" and such. I still consider like I paid for it even if I download them for free. So what happens when you REALLY DO THE EXERCICE .. REALLY GET COMMITED TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.. REALLY DISCIPLINE YOUR SELF TO LIVE TO HIGHER STANDARDS ?? .. I guess that's the major difference between those who failed to get the results they wanted and those who do. It takes time.. a lot of time to get the results.. changing your life in 7 days or 30 days is bullshit, I totally agree with that. It takes 21 consecutive days for the body and mind to get fully conditionned to new behaviors. From where I was starting, I had A LOT of work to do on myself. I guess 5 years later I can consider I am a totally new person from what I was back then. Since I bought personal power 2.. I had started using it but I wasn't really commited and too cought up and in reaction to actually get the results I wanted. I listened to the tapes and read the book for about 2 years and here's what actually happened.. I was hoping to change my life by investing in something but I was always making stupid investment.. I one day thought about what would be the best investment I could do that actually would really give me money. And I realised that the only thing that really worked was selling drugs.. so I started "investing in myself" and I happend to start building a good stack of money.. I knew it wouldn't last forever but with the "skills" I had gained and the experience I had in that area, I figured if I could get enought money to invest seriously in something that would worth it, I guess it could be a good strategy. So one day, one of my friend asked me if I wanted to start a business with him and invest with him in another contry, which had a really good potential. So I thought that was the best oportunity there is. I could be far away from all those people who depended on me and have time on my own to get a fresh start. During the next 3 years, while building our company from zero, I actually stoped using drugs, started waking up early in the morning, learned a 3rd language, builded my self-confidence to get chix I only dreamed of back then, I started meeting with people who are the leaders of the biggest companies in the contry... and now we're selling 100 000 of our products per month and I started earning the money I always dreamed of. This would never had been possible if I didn't get DISCIPLINED and TOTALLY COMMITED .. With the personal power program, I learned how to change my beliefs and values to be aligned in the good direction to succeed. So my only point is this: If you start listening to the program.. it's like 2 lines heading for the same direction.. one represents your current direction and the other the "desired direction" . If you only listen to it.. it might incline 1% and you won't even see any difference at all. If you listen to it consistently and get the ideas.. maybe a little bit more .. But if you listen to it, take notes, do the exercices, make plans for the future, visualize, practice, repeat, repeat, repeat.. listen again, get new distinctions, get really commited, condition yourself. You will really get the results you are looking for. You guys judge on your own, my only purpouse was to put some "balance" on the positive side of these programs. It costs too much ? go download it for free in mp3 and whenever you get the chance to gain profits because of it, just buy the real thing and offer it to someone else who deserves it for a gift. that's all I had to say, I hope it will inspire other people having read a real testemonial from a loser who turned out to be a winner. |

In general, though jfs may be an exception, I agree with what Anton LaVey said about self help books in "The Devil's Notebook":
"Those that need them won't read them or heed them." My stepmother bought me a book by Franklin Covey when I was in high school, it was called something like "12 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers" I read some of it, but I would have felt like a total tool trying to implement what he was saying. |

I bought the personal power tapes like twelve years ago in a garage sale. I was like 13 years old. I took it really seriously and listened to all the tapes from front to back and even took notes. I had like a hole notebook full of ideas and goals. I would listen to it while working out. Its true all they are selling is free ideas but I was looking for structure. I think I was looking for some kind of direction. What I got out of it was a way to map out my goals and to say to achieve this I have to do this that and the other first. Also it pumps your ego too.
also think Anthony Robbins is nothing special but It filled a need at the time for me. |

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well I just wanted to wish you all an happy new year. Good luck in everything you look forward to achieve. I hope everybody will have the amount of wealth (emotionaly, spiritualy, financialy..) they wish and deserve for 2005 !
An interesting phrase that stuck into my mind and that made a major difference in my life, even before hearing it goes like that: MOST PEOPLE'S LIVE ARE IN DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE EXPECTATION OF THEIR PEER GROUP.(c) Tony Robbins. Good advice: Choose your peer group, love your family. Jfs. |
