Military contracting experiences
Has anyone here worked as a private military contractor?
I may have an opportunity to work on base as a civilian IT contractor. I have talked to a couple of ex-military people I know and they think it would be a good position to get into. I'm wondering if there is anyone with hands on experience that I could draw from. Thanks

As a total sellout, I've heard you can make a lot of money doing the even the simplest of tasks in a "combat zone" overseas. I'd go for it.
Companies like ManTech International, for example, provide civilian technical support on military bases. They do everything from comms and vehicular electronic countermeasures to repairing specialized equipment such as mine-protected clearance vehicles. Guys are usually dumpy 40-something tech experts, getting paid handsomely to turn wrenches in the heat. If you don't mind long rotations and eating DFAC chow, it's a real good gig.
