Getting water out of your ear

Anyone know how to get water out of your ear? I took a hot tub trip about a half hour ago and it still hasn't come out yet. Damn my low patience...

Patience usually works for me.

I shake my head back and forth as fast as possible till I feel like I'm going to throw up. Usually works.

Lean or tilt your head, pointing your ear in question toward the floor. Gently shake your head up and down until you feel some movement.

Nobody else jumps up and down with their head tilted to the side of the ear with water i it?

30 min and you are complaining?!? Recently I have been having the water-in-ear feeling for days after I go swimming! Days!!! In Cuba after day 2 I had water ear for the rest of the trip! When I went to the lake for a week this summer I had water ear the ENTIRE time!!! AGGH!!!!! 30 min would be a blessing!!!

I used a concentration of vinegar drops in my ears that would help dry things up enough to dislodge some of the water.

This is exactly what I do, but I jump on one leg only, same side as the watery ear is. It usually helps!

Have another person siphon it out or do it yourself with a long enough hose.

Turkey baster! ;)

I shake my head violently Night at the Roxbury-style. Using a little soap to break up the surface tension might work too.

OK, Rabastid has me do this funny little dance.

Stand on one foot and lean over sideways so your ear with the water in it is facing the floor. Kick your not-on-the-floor foot and punch with the opposite arm at the same time.

I swear to god it works, and if it doesn't, it's still very amusing for whomever's watching.

Everclear works perfectly, or isopropyl. Or both. The more alcohol you can mix into the water, the faster it will evaporate.

Pur it in, let it diffuse, then turn your ear to the floor. The part that doesn't drip will go soon enough.

if its your right ear, knock on the left side of your temple and tell me if you hear a hollow sound...

Savor the sweet anticipation.
It's a lovely sensuous tickly sensation when it finally drains.

I was like, "yeah, I want to feel that again."

Lay down on the bed or couch or floor with the clogged ear on the ground. Just lay there for a while and it'll come out with no shaking even.

Finally, someone that knows the best way. My kids were all swimmers and my wife swims every day, alcohol is the best way to drain the water and prevent bacterial infection.

I just tilt my head to the side if it's water that seems to not be too deep, maybe shaking it a little bit, but nothing major. It's never really been a problem for me!

stnichola 01-24-2010 11:22 AM

An unpleasant sensation when you can feel water sloshing around in your ear. Happens to me when I swim. Have you tried shouting and swearing ?

Well for me there are 2 ways...

one is tipping your head were the water is and tap your head and jump.

two, pinch your nose so you can't breathe, and blow...NO TOO MUCH THOUGH!

JoeSimpson 02-03-2010 11:31 PM

Definitely rubbing alcohol, it will dry all the water out and kill any possible infection.
