Blizzard Blankets East Coast
I'm at work, I metro'd to my weekend job. We just aired a newscast that Metro is shutting down.
Bah. Fortunately my boss called earlier and said I could stay at Embassy Suites on the station. I'm considering that. Are you being hit by the storm? What's happening in your world? |

apparently I'm missing the snow.
|
We got like three inches here, which is enough to pretty much shut the city down.
It was all rain just half an hour to our East. I bet over where LordEden is it was more like four inches. We're having a chill-at-home day. |

When I lived in New Bern, any snow was enough to shut the town down. COme a hurricane though, and people are running around like crazy. |
HAHAH, wow, 3 posts in and already a gay hobbit joke about penises. I do believe that is a new record.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/phot...bVObGXvMKEE%3D This was from last night, it came down heavy and hard. I'd say we had at least 3-4 inches here. Starting to melt tho. |
sunny and cool here. no snow to speak of. Kinda jealous of you all. My snow blower has been tuned up and poised for action since November.
|
Don't be jealous, I just spent my second night at work and metro is still not running.
|
It is difficult to tell how much snow we actually got. The drifts are just huge. My car is invisible, I can't see out my sliding door and it's still coming down. Good thing the shovel is in the house because I am going to need it just to get out the front door. The kids are off this week, which is good, but they are stuck at their father's right now. When the snow stops, I am going to venture out and start digging. I may even try to fix the snowblower that my ex never fixed. The tenants said they'd help dig out too.

Not a spec of snow in the sky...
|
Well, it happened. I stayed here so long I'm now doing another shift. Here's the funny part, I'm filling for a snow bound producer who bitched me out yesterday because I was two minutes late.
Really, just, unbelievable. |
Overheard in the Control Room maybe this will give you some laughs.
|
Got at least a foot of snow and its still coming down. Drifts were 3-4 feet on the side of the house. Hoping the main roads are clear as I'm off to work in a bit.
|
Thanks! I added my tidbit. I love those stories.
I don't get people sometimes. The last time I wasn't relieved it bothered me not at all. I called only because it's the thing to do. When everybody was contacted and a dead end was reached, I happily filled in and accepted the money for the shift. I think the jerk yesterday feels a bit diva-esque because he's producing a show on XM during the week. As far as I'm concerned, that means the prick should drop his local shows here and let me produce them. Edit: awww, my boss just bought me dinner. |
We got 5-6 inches just north of Winston-Salem.
BTW I really hate when it snows because people are such bullshitters. We had 2 family reunions yesterday. At one of them the host said that they got 11.5 inches and they only live 25 minutes from here. Well I was there, and he got the same as us, 5-6 inches. I didn't want to say anything...I don't know why it gets on my nerves so bad. I think people measure in the fucking grass where you can ram the ruler down really far. 5-6 inches is enough to shut things down around here though. |
I'm just annoyed that this lovely snow in NoVA came AFTER I moved back to Ohio.
Jerks. Send it back to me! Any snow we got over the last two days is already gone. |
I don't consider it a lot of snow unless you have to climb out a window to get out of your house if its a one-story.
Although I agree people exaggerate, or look at the highest drifts when measuring, the amount of snowfall can vary depending on the surrounding terrain even with small hills and elevation changes. |
