Being jobless was the worst thing - it's not the lack of cash that got me down, it was the lack of purpose.

What are you doing for Toys'R'Us?
Christmas is actually a really fun time to work retail. I threw freight at Target a few Christmases ago and actually enjoyed it (for what it was). Customers generally seemed to be in a good mood. One of the best mornings was when we opened early so that the local sheriff's department could come in and take needy kids around to pick out an outfit, a pair of shoes, and a few special toys, as well as one thing a parent said they needed. Those kids were just delighted to be there, and the deputies were all excited to help these kids. Personally I think I'd find stocking toys depressing. That was always my least favorite department in Target to work, and I was glad when I got bumped to Health and Beauty. Why? Little Mommy doll sets drive me nuts. The entire toy section is a victim of gender stereotyping. Good luck with your new job!

Congrats, Spartanx9. A new job is a great feeling.
I've never been to Tucson, but I've heard it's a great place to live?

Congrats. Was there too, not long ago, so I can imagine how great you must feel.
Enjoy the job, stay upbeat and even better things are sure to follow.

I worked at Toys R Us seasonally 5 different times. Once over the summer, during a renovation. We were there to move entire aisles, pallet stock, pull down old shelving and hang new shelving. Plus lots of cleaning around the subcontractors. The other four times were for the Christmas holidays. The catch was that this was all at night. 11pm to 8am (two 15 minute breaks and 1/2 hour lunch. Great job during school break. Work for three weeks, last day for me was Christmas eve and make about 1,000 bucks and go back to school a few days later. I had the old board game wall. Back then, Toys was three rows deep with board games taking up the entire right side of the main part of the store. Action figures was aisle 7c, and that was a pain with all the hooks and different sized packaging. The biggest dedication for the store was Barbie, which took up all of 13C, no part of the store was so dedicated to one product. Plus we would unload at least 2 53 foot trailers each night as well. And yeah, it was easy to get distracted with all of the toys and comic books around.

Cashier, with the potential of being in their whole gaming and electronics section. It's their most expensive part of the store, and they keep it locked down pretty good.
Overall I think I'm gonna have fun with the place. I don't start for a few weeks though, but I'm excited Can't wait for it :P |

So, I had my first day yesterday, with paperwork and all that stuff. Got introduced to the person that will be training me in the electronics section (super tight about security and such), and I'll be heading in today for training with cash registers.
Super excited |

Congratulations!
I know how hard it can be, I was looking for quite awhile before finding my job.
