New Apartment w/ Pet

After living with my parents while attending college, I have graduated and got my own apartment.

However, I have a small dilemma. You see, I have a cat. I got it while in college and it has really bonded with the cats at my parents house. Now that I am moving out, I am taking my cat with me.

It is a small apartment though. 1 Bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom (compared to my parents house, which is 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom). I'm just wondering if the cat is better off at home with the parents and with the other cats. I love her to death and enjoy her company and she seems happy in the apartment, but I just want whats best for the cat.

Will the cat be fine? Am I just being overly-concerned?

I'm one of those who believes if you want a cat, get two. So they won't be lonely, blah blah blah. But intro'ing her to a new cat won't help in this situation. I suggest just observing her. If she seems depressed or if she starts pissing all over the place, she's not a happy kitty. Bring her home.

I'd usually prefer to keep it in its original home, but ...

Overthinking is more like it. If a cat seems happy, she's happy.

Kitty pics? :p

My cats were always happy wherever I moved, as long as they were still with me. I moved two cats 1000 miles from the humid south to the frozen midwest, and they adapted very well. One of them even loved to take walks in the snow with me. You are more important than the change in circumstance. As long as the cat is comfortable with their food, litter box and sleeping locations and you give at least 15 minutes of devoted attention every day the kitty will most likely be fine.

When we moved early last year, our cat took about 20 minutes to adjust. :D

She'd lived in the same apartment for her entire life (almost 10 years). She had zero issues adapting, though she wasn't leaving any playmates behind. Have you thought of adopting a kitten from a local shelter or anything?

My cats have moved with me once but the living situation was similar. Now I am considering moving much further away, I am worried that it will be rather traumatic for them. But I still think they would rather be with me than not...they love me to bits and are always at my side when I am home.

My cat spent the first 11-12 years of it's life living in the family house and wondering around the neighborhood and then we moved and because we got a cat eating dog the cat now lives in the space of 2 bedrooms, a hall and a bathroom and he's totally fine. so long as he seems happy he probably is.

I would get her a little playmate, but the apartment only allows 1 pet, and its wayyyy too small for another cat.

My biggest thing is she is restless at night. Maybe its because I work all day and she just won't go to sleep when I go to sleep. Makes for a lot of lost sleep for me. If the apartment was bigger, it would be fine but its literally just one room. So everything she does, I can hear.

Is there someone who can stop by and play with her during the day while you're gone? We have pet sitters that will come hang out with your animals during the day. Or you make time in the evenings to play with her to the extent of wearing her out. How old is she?
