Roller Derbies are wonderful places to see all sorts of different and new kinds of socks. I didn't know that there were so many options for stripes and argyle mixed with fishnets and tights of various hues and patterns. It's a veritable feast for these sock-loving eyes.

Do you prefer any given fabric over others?
I prefer cotton when I'm going to do a workout. Otherwise I have no preference.

Do you run into problems with socks?
Unfortunately I have a problem with socks. Even when I purchase those with reinforced toes, I find that I tear through them rather quickly. If I don't wear through the toe first, I'll wear through the fabric at the pad of my foot. I'm hard on socks. For some reason, I seem to be less hard on tights. Nylons/hose don't stand a chance, but good thick tights will see me through a season or two.

I wear the black hanes socks that fade after the first wash.

I don't particularly care to wear socks if I don't have to; I own many pairs of sandals as a result.

These are my favorite socks:


They make my North Face Hedgehog XCRs super-comfy and they don't look weird when I wear my Doc Marten T-strap Mary Janes. They also keep my toes cushioned nicely in the Docs so they're not sliding around in the huge steel toe box. I wish I had more pairs.

I also really like Nike's crew socks. I have about 20 pairs of those, mostly because I can't stand to deal with a bunch of socks of different colors.

I don't wear socks if I don't have to. I wear flip-flops almost always...even in the winter.
Of course, when I need to wear sneakers I will wear socks, but no socks in particular - whatever I have.
I do like wearing black tights, though, during cold months when something more formal than flip-flops is required.

As for me, I never go barefoot (that includes any type of open toe wear) outside, so I have a fairly sizable collection of socks. Most of them are short, white gym socks. I also have a really thin pair of black socks to go with fancy outfits.

I like toe toppers - a kind of half sock - which are perfect for those times I don't want to wear full socks. They're really great for just lounging around the house and keeping your toes warm, or for wearing with mules or clogs to keep your feet from slipping around.

Most are just half socks, but I found some that have a strap that will keep them on your feet, and some with gripper pads, too. Sorry, I couldn't find a pic of those with the strap, as I like those much better than the strapless kind.
