Camel's Milk....a cure all?
Have any of you heard about this?
Enthusiasts believe camel milk can be a cure-all - Local & State - News & Observer I heard about it on the radio this morning and thought it a bit strange. The lady was talking about how in India they have one of the highest diabetes rates in the world, however there is one tribe that drinks nothing but camel's milk and none have ever gotten diabetes. She said that they did a test and gave some of those people cows milk and they "immediately" got diabetes (this would have pissed me off). She also states that a mother in Texas gave her autistic child a 1/3 of a cup of Camel's Milk and within 10-15 minutes she was miraculously non-autistic. I've always been told "If it's too good to be true, it probably is"... has anyone else heard other stories about this? Just struck me as odd that it's almost instantaneous cures. It's too good to be true.
There is only one cure-all, but the tooth fairy won't tell us what it is. But seriously, the key in the article is that there aren't enough studies to prove anything. There are so many factors to health that one thing cannot tell us everything. Some people having diabetes while others don't cannot possibly have one simple difference. There are many factors to the disease. And Autism? Same thing. I didn't know one could instantly become diabetic. Is that even possible?

saw it in the paper and it's the first time I've heard of it.
I don't really put much stock in it. I'm sure if it cured autism like that, we would have known long ago.. although that would certainly be nice to have such an easy "cure" to autism. btw, the edit of your post was only to fix your link |

But anyway, back on topic, B_G, the tooth fairy told me actually. I charge for the answer. |

I have not heard that theory. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that usually hits before age 20 and very very often before age 10. Not sure how eating sugar or fast food would cause your body's immune system to view the insulin-producing beta cells in your pancreas as the enemy, and kill them off. Possible, I guess, but I don't think my daughter was abusing fast food and sugar, and she got plenty of exercise. Diabetes staff we talked to in the hospital said 'they' think it's like a ticking time bomb someone is born with. They said they can look at the recent history of most new patients and find a very stressful event like divorce, finals week, broken bone, other injury. My daughter's was a broken bone.

cure all? you'd think the arabs were free of all diseases and ailments then, would you not?
naturopathy is BS to me. give me a scientifically based study endorsed by facts before i could even start to consider this being even remotely true

Camel's milk?! No, no! The real cure-all is meerkat milk, but good luck trying to find those nipples.....
