"I am a thief and a liar!"

Frustrated mom makes 12-year-old delinquent son hold humiliating sign, in public...

Good Morning Yahoo!

Ah. I can relate to this kid. When I was 7, in 1st grade, I thought I'd impress the girl sitting next to me in class by writing "S H I T" on my crayon box and showing it to her. Her reaction? She raised her hand and tattled on me, to the teacher. Later, when my mom picked me up at school, my teacher had a little talk with her. Afterward, my mom took me shopping with her at the mall, where she made walk beside her and wear the offensive crayon box on my head. I was so humiliated!

:o

If she were such a great mother, the kid wouldnt need that sort of punishment.

This reminds me of that family that made their kid sit in front of the house with a pig mask on, and a sign about "im a pig" or something, so everyone walking by could see them. Another serial killer/rapist/malcontent is born.

Although you may be right, sometimes bad kids happen to good parents, despite all their best efforts. Furthermore, in today's society, once a kid gets it into their head to be totally rebellious and delinquent, and no one can disuade them because they absolutely don't care about anyone or anything, then there is little parents or teachers can do. At that point, with that type of kid, only law enforcers have the authority to use physical force to restrain that kid and enforce a punishment.

I totally agree. It doesnt neccessarilly mean the kid'll turn out to be a delinquent, sometimes they learn their lessons. I know I did after my mom made me put on plastic bags as underwaer to stop wetting my bed..

Why is it always mom's though??!!!

Because mothers are more inclined to go to embarassing extremes to straighten out their kids? I dunno.

I am not sure that public humilitation will really work. Seems like it would inspire a defeatest attitude in the child.

I'd only do that to one of my kids if on Career Day, he/she confessed that they want to be a cop when they grow up.

Parents should be allowed to discipline their kids like that so long as they pay into a lifetime mental healthcare program.
