i dont know if this goes for anyone else but me, but my girl and i used to kick the living fucking shit out of each other.

it was only for a brief period, and were still together. but point being, we both fell down the stairs together if you get what i mean.

we started as good friends before our relationship started, which could explain out behavior...but i dont know. i dont even remember it being a serious fight, now that i look back on the situations it seems like we did it for the fuck of it.

Sorry, I don't get what you mean. I sure hope you were sparring and playing.

well, yeah! hence the "we did it for the fuck of it" part of my little tale.

no way i would lay my hands on a girl to "put her in her place."...never.

we're just an awkward couple. its one of those things where we would wake up the next day and be realize last night was a fucked up good time.

i guess were not your average couple. but thats one of the things that i cherish about our relationship.

at the time i dont know if you would really call it sparring, playing is more like it..but at the same time playing doesnt really cut it..she would wallop the living shit out of me.

a man hitting a woman is a complete different thing from a woman hitting a man. And people can call me sexist or paternalistic all they like.

If my sister's boyfriend was knocking her about I would beat him

If my brothers girlfriend was knocking him about I'd tell him he was best of out of it

It IS different,

And as I expected, the double standard has worked its way out into the open.

But you're right, it is different, but it isn't always in the way you have presented it--just as there are degrees of differences between misogyny and misandry.

I'm of the view that men are violent for a reason, and sometimes (often?) it's because of psychological stress or disorders. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the most under-diagnosed population in society is men. This goes for many aspects of health, both mental and physical.

So in answer to the OP: Sure, men who are violent can be fully expected to repeat it, but, then again, they should also be given credit for having the potential to heal this behaviour.
