Books that start with dream sequence
Can anyone come up with the names of any books that start out with a dream sequence? It seems cliche to me, but when I start to think about it, I haven't been able to come up with a single one.

Hmm closest I can come is One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey - strictly it's not a dream sequence but the entire book is written from the characters viewpoint and since he's a little mentally unstable it's not strictly 'real' either.

The first part of The Sound and the Fury by Faulkner is from the perspective of a mentally retarded person and flashes back and forth from the future to the past without the author telling you so (some versions have the text italicized to tell you when it's switching to make it easier). That's also not a real dream sequence, but it's pretty close.

There are some, probably very few when you consider how many books are published in a year, but it seems to be one of those "absolutely never ever do this" things, no matter what writing-help-book you're reading.

it's not a book, but didn't nightmare on elm street start with a dream?
