Does everybody start holiday shopping now?
A pissed off customer informed me that we should extend our return policy at work for Christmas now because everybody starts shopping now. I replied that I knew no one who did, but let it go because I wasnt in the mood to fight while I was supposed to be training.
So, do more people you know start Christmas shopping now, or further into November? In my experience, I know no one who starts shopping now, but there have been a handful of people who have been in to my work to for Christmas gifts. Is it getting more common to start shopping in October? |

I know many people who have already started. The actual shopping "season" doesn't start until the day after Thanksgiving, but plenty of people get on the ball and start long before then.

Or you could be like Buy.com and have a return policy of 15 days... from the day it ships, no matter what shipping option you chose... and thus make it impossible to use them for anything you'd like to plan ahead more than 2 days... and then have really crappy customer service to address those issues...
/end rant My MIL already has some presents purchased, and ALL of her Christmas cards made out and addressed. She's also a little bit crazy - thankfully in the nice direction, eh? Wow.

I know what I'm getting people for Christmas.
My father is getting his subscription to Consumer Reports renewed. My mother is getting her subscription to House Beautiful renewed. My brother is getting a James Bond book. SO is getting a...well, that one I don't know. I usually just order everything through Amazon.com a couple weeks before Christmas.

My family used to christmas shop all year round. Why wait when the deal is now?

I have started shopping yeah, I am leaving a few presents unbought since I am off to Thailand in a month or so and will probably buy some gifts over there.
I already have presents bought, wrapped, addressed and under my desk though. I am terrible with crowds so I try REALLY hard to avoid the christmas rush.

Two months before? Are you nuts? We give presents on New Year, and I usually wait until 3 days before at the earliest. Last year I got everything the day before...

Christmas Decor is a whole different story. I like to have stuff decorated the week after Thanksgiving. Keep it looking holiday and it just seems to lessen the stress a bit.
Shopping.. I'll just wait till I have to bang into thousands of people and fight for that last pair of gloves or whatever.. it's fun to me. |

I know plenty of people who start early, but for myself I pretty much wait until the last minute to buy my roomies booze. I spend too much time delivering other people's crap to really get into buying stuff myself. Then again, I barely buy anyone gifts, and the ones I do I usually buy it when I see something that I want to get them.
