Not sure if this is the right forum to post in but here goes...
A couple years ago it happened..

I was filmed while using the restroom at my public university. After this particular incident I had a strange feeling that one day it would be posted onto the internet. Well, after googling the slogan the scumbag said as he ran off, I came across a newly created website that contained a preview video of myself of that very incident.

The scumbags compiled film of many victims on their website and are conducting business by selling that footage.

My questions are, Is this a serious crime? If so, what measures can I take to report or file a complaint about this website? Any help is appreciated.

This is pretty embarrasing for me to deal with personally, therefore I decided to seek help anonymously through TFP.

I assume you were filmed without your consent? In that case yes, you had a reasonable expectation of privacy, and what they did was illegal as holy hell.

If you knew it was happening and allowed it then. . well. . that was stupid, but you can still get them for commercial use of your image without compensation.

If the images were taken without your consent, start by calling the police. If they were taken with your consent but you did not sign a photographic rights release, call a trademark infringement attorney. If you signed a release form then. . .well. . .you've not much recourse. NEVER EVER sign an unlimited photo rights release, especially if the images are or could be embarrassing!

You might want to search what your state's voyeurism regulations say. In Connecticut, they recently added hidden videotaping to be unlawful (I think; I don't remember entirely).

Yes, you've got a case... but why bother? There is not one chance in a zillion that anyone will see your image on the site and not one chance in another zillion that they will realize it is you.

And even if the unthinkable and improbable happens... so what? You did nothing wrong. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

Even in the 1/100000000 chance that someone you know sees you, they would never admit to why they found you in such a video ("um.. i was searching for voyeur tapes on the internets cuz i'm a loser")

so yeah, nothing to worry about..

also, you are a guy, so the chances of girls going around looking for porn are even lower! and if a guy friend you knew looked at it, then he'd have to come outta the closet to even reveal you were taped in such a way..

Despite all these responses to do nothing, these people are sick and deserve to come under scrutiny for invading people's privacy in an extreme way, and even more for posting the video publicly. I say at least notify the police if this was done without your consent and you were involved in completely legal acts.

Of course, if you do nothing then a few strangers will see it.

If you contest them it will become evidence in a court case and a shedload of strangers will see it, and the local paper will write about it, and you'll end up on Fark, and Digg, etc etc.

You may even get on Mythbusters!

Just to help us along, what part is embarrassing to you? Is it just that they taped you urinating or defecating? Or were you engaging in sex or drug use in the bathroom?

If it's the former, it is them who should be embarrassed, not you. If it's the latter, however....

How exactly did they video you going to the bathroom? I'd have some cross words with anyone even trying to sneak a peek at a urinal or under a stall, let alone whipping out a vid cam...And why on earth did the perp 'yell a slogan' as he ran off?

And how long ago was this?

And how often have you googled that slogan fruitlessly? And then seen your video and recognized yourself in the preview section?

Something is fishy here...
