Another trip to Mexico
Let's talk Mexican water. I know the general rule of thumb is to only drink bottled water in Mexico. The problem is that I drink a shit ton of water, and I'd rather not buy bottle after bottle, even if it is dirt cheap.
What is it in the water that will make you sick? If I were to use a backpacking water filter on the tap water, would that be safe? |

hmmm, no one replied? well, let me throw my opinion at you...
a backpacking filter would probably work, especially if it's one of the ones that catch giardia, cause i don't think anything in mexico is as bad. you could, if you have time and you dare, "acclimatize" yourself to the water. drink a little bit, get a little bit sick, introduce the bacteria to your system, and "build up an immunity." i may be wrong, but i think many mexicans have problems with our water, as we have a different set of bacteria in our water that we are used to. ultimately, i would stick with the water filter. you can also use iodine tablets, but they take time (depending on which type you use) and make the water taste odd. you can also just stick to soda and beer...
