Facial Exercise?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has heard of exercises for your face and neck muscles before and whether it's worked for you.

I have read up on this and there are two sides to this: some people say that face muscles are like any other muscle and if you exercise them you will be able to tone them. Others say that certain facial exercises will only deepen your wrinkles (i.e. laughter and frown lines - because some facial exercises really stretch them).

So far I've tried them and haven't seen any difference. What do you think about this? I was hoping they would work! Anyone have any experience with this?

In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.

why do you want to tone your face muscles? I know with time, you can train your face to do any type of movement like the raised eyebrow. but as far as getting a visual difference, i dunno.

Well this is an old thread to bump but I remembered it was here after I read the thread on sagging breasts. This got lost quite fast and I forgot about it! I thought it would be a good time to bring it back up.

The reason to tone face muscles is similar to the one behind wanting to tone sagging breasts. Because your face also sags, quite visibly too, after a certain age. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have been doing them for a while now and I can't notice much difference so far, but then I guess I'm not sagging there yet. The reason why I do it is because I hate the thought of jowls and drooping eyelids and want to prevent those effects of ageing for as long as possible. If you think it's vain of me, so be it.

I am willing to share some of the exercises I do if anyone is interested. I'm sure you'll all have a good laugh too! They can be quite funny. It only takes a few minutes per day so it's not very time consuming or hard on the face either.

Some people say they have the opposite effect ( I hope not!), because they stretch the face and cause things to sag faster.

So what do you guys think? Is this silly or is it worth doing?

I tried one of those programs many moons ago. I don't recall any difference.

What I have learned since, though:

Drinking lots of water (at least a gallon daily) to keep your skin hydrated and improve elasticity, along with eating lots of healthy fruit and vegetables to promote healthy cell growth will do it. It works from the inside out.

I don't think muscles really have much to do with sagging in terms of breasts or face.

Sagging arms on old women? Maybe.

I've always wanted to break a concrete wall with my face!

Wait, that's not it I guess... Somehow I think the way you use your face naturally should be enough 'exercise'. I believe jewels has the right idea here: keep your skin healthy.
If you're really worried about wrinkles, use some cream for that.
But I doubt you are gonna get much result with cheek-crunches.

I'd say get in shape overall... Your face tends to follow automatically.

id like to see what sort of excercises you do.

physiology is physiology. muscles grow when exercised and nourished. if they grow they'll grow out the wrinkles and creases.

id so try it.
