Bit by a spider 2 days ago.
 

and now I have spidey powers....




but no seriously, I figure i'd know if it was a poisonous threat within a few hours of it happening (dropped off the wall at a local resturaunt and got me right in the underside of my left sholderblade.)

I felt fine aside from the initial sting.

today though, my elbow feels like I twisted my arm 360 degrees in the wrong direction or something.

its not really localized to the bite but I dunno know enough about spider toxins to figure if this is some weird coincidence or maybe a muscular symptom?

I didn't really get a good look at the spider, i kinda spazzed after it bit me and it looked kinda like a white spider but it coulda been the lighting, after the "brushoff" I couldnt find it.

meh, other than that I feel fine, and it was 36 hours ago.

I guess I shouldnt worry too much but if someone here is gonna scare me with "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE! I'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN BEFOOOOOORE!" yeah... let me know :)

If your arm is still bothering you, you should see your doctor about it. We have no way of knowing what kind of spider it was, how you'd react to it if poisonous, or what's going on with your arm. Only your doctor can tell you that. And if you don't have a doctor, go to a walk in clinic.

If you choose not to, then no worries. Just my opinion if you're concerned about it.

Keep an eye on the bite area. If it starts to go bad you may not feel it because the nerves themselves have died. You may be fine, but then again people have had to have parts of their bodies removed after a spider bite.

Could be a toxin affecting the nerves. I'd say it is worth checking out. The only two spiders people seem to be concerned about are the Black Widow and Brown Recluse - do you know if either is native to your area?

Do you find yourself reacting faster to things? Rapid muscle gain? Sudden increase in energy and strength? Do you have that tingling sensation before something happens?

been a few days since this was posted and im kinda curious how its going? your arm fall off? did it stop bugging you? can you spin your own web? Have you looked up the spiders from your area to try to guess what it was? I have never been bit by a spider as far as i know. Most spider/insect and animal bites if nothing happens in the first day or two nothing bad will. But never know what kinda stuff could happen. infection allergic reaction who knows. im just wondering how it all turned out.

Ah, it's time for the warrrreagl spider bite story.

About 7 years ago, I woke up one morning with an enormous bulge in the side of my neck. It looked like someone had jammed a boiled egg under the skin on my neck, and I immediately began imagining horrible, contorted, twisted deaths that might hit me at any moment. My two main thoughts were 1) heart attack symptom (I have no idea where that came from either), and 2) simple boil. So I decided to squeeze it to see what happened. It hurt. I quit squeezing. Grancey said, "Get your ass to a doctor before you turn gray-headed worrying about the damn thing!" So I did.

At the doctor's office, they gave me the usual false hope by allowing me into an examining room without telling me that it would be another half-hour before the doctor finally came in. During that eternal half-hour, I kept imagining more horrible deaths, but this time my imagination had help. Someone had slipped Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique into the doctor's office muzak tape and I was listening to the Dies Irae and funeral march. Real good for patients at the doctor's office to listen to death music while waiting to get the tragic news.

The doctor came in and I told him how totally uncool his music was. He said nobody had ever noticed that before. I said it didn't matter because I did. He said hmmmmm. Then he looked at the lump in my neck. He had me take off my shirt. He touched a spot on my shoulder blade and announced, "You have a spider bite back here." He said the lump was caused by swelling in my lymph node as it attempted to handle the spider poison that had been introduced into my system. He said, "Go home, you'll be fine."

But I can't teach about Hector Berlioz anymore without going through the entire spider bite story. It completely enhances the musical experience, that's for sure.

well its been so long since i've gotten any lovin that i'm probably shooting cobwebs. maybe I can blame the spider for that.
