The dog watches television...
No, seriously. This dog watches television. Amazing, weird intellect.
It recognizes animals and barks accordingly, yet has no interest in people. It knows the jingle or background music associated with animal-laden commercials or shows and responds with barking. It gets sad when the TeeVee isn't on. I don't know if this is healthy for a dog. God, it's like having a teenager that shits on the lawn. |

eh, we have cats that like to watch TV. We even got them a tape of birds, squirrels, and mice. They love it and wait for the TV to be turned on with their tape.

My dog pays rapt attention to any shows that have dogs in them.
She's usually passed out cold asleep by 800 pm. On nights that the Dog Whisperer is on she will be up at 10 pm watching. Her absolute favorite is 101 Dalmations. Two hours of dogs! |

My pugs like to bark at dogs / horses on the TV. They will even run into the closet that is behind the wall where the TV is looking for the other animals.
What size dogs do you guys have? I had heard that being able to discern 2d images was a trait of small dogs only and that large dogs are just incapable of recognizing anything in a 2D projection. |

We have an assortment of bird videos that our cats go bonkers to watch. Just to show you how old they are, they're all on VHS (the bird videos, not the cats). We usually pull up a box or small table so they can sit at eye-level with the TV, and the greatest thing is when they flinch at something a bird does or when they try to peer around the back of the TV to see where the bird went.
We have one cat who freaks when the doorbell is rung on a TV program. We try to get them interested in dogs barking on TV but they don't give a shit about anything we WANT them to notice.

My cats Love hockey. So much so that I can't watch 5 minutes of a game without one or both of them jumping in front of the TV, trying to intercept a pass or slashing at a player.
The only thing that would get them away from the TV was the laser pointer, and now they've decided that there's some connection between jumping in front of the TV and summoning the Mysterious Red Dot. When I was young, we had a dog that would freak out whenever The Muppet Show came on. I still don't understand that. |

Our dogs love dogs on TV as well. And also, oddly, always bark when a doorbell rings on TV, despite us never living anywhere with a doorbell. Strange critters they are...
