Are Mothers as guilty as Fathers in sexual abuse?
 

Abusers are well known for chosing their partners according to their abilities to lure/manipulate/blackmail them.

It's hard to judge on the whole.

In any way, in the worst case, I don't think being a passive witness is the same than being an actor in these crimes. I'm not saying there is no crime, just that it is not the same one. If I stop to think and just try to "feel", the basic idea of what the Ideal Mother should be makes me say it is the same level of atrocity. But really, it is not. (For instance, the passive witness may have more chances to be reeducated, which could be good for the child reconstruction.)

What are your thoughts?

Your post assumes that all sexual abusers are male, which is hardly the case.

It also assumes that mothers are simply passive observers. There are documented cases where mothers were actively encouraging or participating.

I don't think this problem can ever simply be broken into "mothers and fathers," as your parental role has very little to do with your ability to manipulate or harm.
