When to call back after an interview?

I had an interview last Wednesday and the lady said that they would let me know by today, but she never called back. I had called yesterday to see how the selection process was coming along but never got a call back. Typically when are good times to call back after an interview? Since they didn't call me back this week does that mean they don't want me?

Give her a call directly on Monday. Don't leave a message but rather speak with her.

If you can't get a hold of her, just move on. There are more jobs out there, and keep at it.

Did you remember to provide the interviewer(s) with a thank note?

You should also try to ask her for some constructive criticsm if she can take the time. That way you'll have the ability to learn a bit as to what you can work on in the face to face interview

Just give a call on Monday. Don't worry about it. I interview people all of the time, and do not have a chance to get back to them promptly even when they get the job. I have to interview a ton of people to make sure.

Write it down; put a stamp on it, and mail it!
Anyone can send a thank you email - how much effort does that demonstrate? Go the extra mile and put your head above the crowd's.

Even if they don't hire you, a thank you note can make a difference - it shows character and grace - they'll remember you if a future job comes up, or they might mention you to someone else looking for an employee. Well worth the $.37, IMHO.

Definately call them back. I just called a guy back today about a job, and he was glad I did because he wanted to offer me the job but lost my phone number!

I always wait a week from the date of the interview, and if i havent heard back yet, then i make the call. That way its long enough that you don't look too desperate, but they know that you are definitely interested. Kinda the SWINGERS date method, if you've seen the movie. I also call a week after leaving my application and resume because Ive been told by interviewers that when you talk to them, they always pull your resume from the stack to look at it, and then place it on top after the call.

I waited about a week after I turned in my application and then I started calling. I couldn't get ahold of anyone at first but when I did they said they were still looking over the apps. I then got persistent and called every couple days until they called me back for my interviews.

If you need or want the job bad enough be persistent and if not then try once or twice then move on to bigger and better things.

I vote for a definite callback also. That is what the interviewer is looking for.

When to call back? Well, I personally say never, but that depends on how many resumes you've dropped off in a set period of time. The reason I say never is that I generally like to return in person to drop off a thank-you note within 3-5 days and check up on the job. Mailing it is a way to set yourself apart. Hand-delivering it goes a lot further. The key is the note in your hand because it gives you an excuse to go to the company, drop off your appreciation and do a casual check on things.
