I hope my post will get everyone to just search out all the dog foods, the ingredients and where they come from and learn all the harmful stuff that goes into some dog foods!

This is a very sad time for all of us pet lovers. I lost a dog to Kidney Failure about 3 and a half years ago and I saw how painful it was to her as well as to me so I can feel the pain of others that are going through this and have actually cried over it! With the dog I have now having Kidney Problems for the whole time she was on another dog food (not part of the recall) made me start searching again on dog foods, their ingredients, where the ingredients come from, all those questions I no longer trust any dog food company to tell me! After I switched dog foods my dog had her first normal test results

I am using Newman's Own Organic Dog Food and yes I am aware of Menu Foods having something to do with one of Newman's Foods although I have not found it confirmed which one. I feel when we share a dog food we should share anything negative about it, too, that we know of.

BUT FROM WHAT I READ NEWMAN'S OWN ORGANIC DOG FOOD IS NOT MADE IN THE SAME FACILITY THAT THE RECALL IS COMING OUT OF!!

This is why I like Newman's Own for my dog..........

All ingredients are obtained from the US and No wheat, corn, No GMO's.

No grape seed extract which I believe was hurting my dog because all testing was abnormal while my dog was using another dog food product with that in it. I know some think grape extract is ok and some don't.

There was nothing else in the dog food she was on before that could cause Kidney Problems as it was also ALL natural, no wheat, nothing artificial, etc.

Newman's Own Organic Dog Food is certified organic.

I don't feel 100 percent safe about any pet foods so that is what lead me to do alot of research and I hope you are, too before you decide on one.

I don't sell Newman's Own so I am just sharing what I have learned.

They do have alot of answers and questions about their product where I learned more as well as we can all google search pet food ingredients, companies, etc. and find out alot!

Newman's Own Organic Dog Food is the closest I can find all things considered that I will allow my pet to eat!!

To all of you that have lost a pet or have one sick because of this terrible tragedy with the contaminated dog food, please know my heart goes out to you all.

I encourage you to research and learn about the different ingredients that goes into dog foods.

"Natural" and "Organic" claims. The definition of natural adopted by AAFCO is very broad, and allows for artificially processed ingredients that most of us would consider very unnatural indeed. The term organic, on the other hand, has a very strict legal definition under the USDA National Organic Program. However, some companies are adept at evading the intent of both of these rules. For instance, the name of the company or product may be intentionally misleading. Some companies use terms such as Nature or Natural or even Organic in the brand name, whether or not their products fit the definitions. Consumers should also be aware that the term organic does not imply anything at all about animal welfare; products from cows and chickens can be organic, yet the animals themselves are still just production units in enormous factory farms.

Sorry, I knew some links were prohibited but thought it was ok to post links for information purposes only for others to learn about dog foods and their ingredients as this pet food recall is so tragic for so many I was just trying to share information that I have learned.

My intentions were/are really just to help others realize the need for researching about pet foods, the ingredients, etc.

This is why I make my own cat food now out of chicken and or oily fish with a bit of veggie pulp for vitamins and minerals.

Because the processed pet food is all poison as far as I am concerned.

I know exactly what they are eating.

I think that's great you are making your own! As well as you being aware of pet foods. I don't think it is all poison but after this horrible tragedy with pet foods I can understand anyone feeling that way as I do have to wonder if any of them are safe but not because of believing they all have poison in them but just questioning those few that make the safer pet foods that get all the ingredients here in the US, nothing harmful in the foods, no wheat, no corn, nothing artificial, etc. in addition to all of that, if they are making sure the testing is done like it should be, cleaning the equipment, safe conditions for which the pet foods are prepared, things like that.

I do give my dog homecooked baked or rotisserie chicken, no seasonings, veggies, things like that at times in addition to the dog food but I can't do it on a regular basis although my last dog when she had Kidney Failure I did do the homemade diet that was safe for Kidney Failure dogs as they can't have some things that healthy dogs can, etc. but I just can't do it now.

And yea, I think a good brand of Fish Oil is great for them, too. You have done your homework

I'm using Innova EVO
he's getting half can half dry mix
it has no grain
I have to say that his coat always feels great all the time

PartyMix, Certainly EVO seems to have a better dog food than most so please understand I am NOT saying it's not a good dog food!! I noticed the EVO dry dog food has garlic in it and while I know garlic has lots of health benefits but it is one of those debatable foods for dogs. Not sure about cats and I am also NOT saying all those are wrong that think garlic is good for dogs. It's just when a ingredient is questionable any at all I avoid it. Garlic is even listed at the ASPCA (Amimal Poison Control Center) under foods to avoid feeding your pet as well as I have read other information about not giving garlic to pets.

Again, I know there is lots of information out there about garilc being good for pets, too! Personally for me and my pet we avoid it since there is informataion, also about garlic can be harmful! I also realize some think it takes large amounts of garlic to be toxic. I just avoid it to be safe.
