shoes have static buildup
okay,, just a quick question.. I have a pair of shoes I bought last year, a pair of sketcher boots actually. Well everytime I get an electrick shock everytime I get out of my pickup while wearing them. This ONLY happens while i am wearing them. I cann't wrap my head around why this is happening. I would even think that stepping first on the ground would discharge it.. but nope. I open my door, step down to the ground and get out,, but as soon as i touch the door to close it,, SHOCK!... I've found that if step out and lean my calf agaisnt the running board it will shock my leg and thus be done with. But man is it annoying! Its to the point that I KNOW its going to happen,, so i've become "trained" to it in a sense,, like a mouse in a cruel lab experiment. I've actually quite wearing that pair of boots so i guess it doesnt really bother me anymore,, but I would like to know WHY this seems to happen and would could be done to fix it??

Are you wearing the same jacket every time you have them on in your pick up truck? That may have something to do with it. You can create static alectricity getting in/out of a vehicle, especially if the shoes help.

I have the same problem with a pair of rubber soled shoes I wear to work. I'd get out of the car and as soon as I touch the door to close it...ZAP!
I've since switched to a pair of wood-soles with great results - no more shock. That is all.

Maybe you're doing this already, but I've found it helpful to open the door and BEFORE getting out of the car, grab the metal frame of the door and hold onto it while you get out, effectively grounding yourself and reducing/eliminating shocks.
