Slack of or study?

Here's my dilema.

i'm going to be attending fall class at UT-Austin, but i'm taking a couple of class at the local community college in the summer. the class will only transfer as 'credit' and will not count toward my college gpa.

the classes are economics and english, with comp sci as my major.

right now, i have about an 85 (w/o much effort) in both classes and i can go either way.

this is the summer after graduation and is it worth it to work hard?

If it only tranfers as credit and the school will not see the grade then its up to you how much effort you think is it worth while. Seeing as how you are a CS major its not like you are going to be called upon to remember this information for your senior level courses. I assume you are just getting some early requirements out of the way.

Personally I wouldn't put too much effort into it unless I found it interesting.

Well, after slacking in my math class, I'm currently paying for it with the fear of not passing. After this, I'm going to actually end slacking for awhile, see how it goes.

Of course I played the expert slacker this quarter, so we'll see.

i wish it was possible to do such a grading style with more of my non-major classes. I like them and all, but i don't like screwing my GPA just to get variety my schedule.

i guess this is a bit late now, but i tend to push myself in all of my classes because i know my upper division classes are going to be killer if i have bad study habits, and every time i ditch a lecture or skip a homework assignment (or just halfass it), it makes the next time that much easier...

if you can get through it with a decent grade then i suppose slacking is fine. personally, when i slacked, i ended up slackin far too much and eventually failing.

Given your posting, I'd strongly suggest you take the English class.

if it's the same weather u get an 85 or a 95 then i'd say just do whatever u been doin cause it dont really matter if all that really matters is that u pass

Those classes are easy...you should take them at your college so they boost your GPA, because sooner or later, one of the courses in your major is going to really kick your ass.

This way you get to slack off this summer, and graduate from college with a higher GPA. Oh, and english classes are super easy at college, much easier than AP english.

i usually try to take the more difficult classes elsewhere then the easy ones at my college..

as greg said, gpa boosters ROCK!! I took a GPA boosting semester last semester.. had what I thought to be 1 nasty class, 3 pretty easy classes, and 2 classes i would shoot myself in the foot if i didn't ace..

suffice to say, it turned out to be 1 nasty class, 1 hard class, 2 easy classes, 1 class I could get an A if i had time, and 1 super easy class..

but I am still glad I had those GPA boosters, because without them I couldnt devote so much time to the nasty class (which I passed!)

My suggestion would be study and get the A's. It just helps prep you for this fall. Take it from someone who is entering third year and still doesn't know how to study, GPA shows it as of last semester too :(

English will be important later since I assume you'll have to take a technical writing class. The only real benefit to knowing Econ would be if you knew it well enough to help other people with it.
