OK so I've been hitting on this girl I know over MSN. That is I know her IRL but I've been hitting on her over MSN. Then tonight I discover she happens to have a boyfriend, the kind of boyfriend that has an orange belt and an issue with jealousy...how many locks/doors should I put between him and myself? Or should I just get a loan for my ticket to Japan and GTFO the country? Ah probably good to note I am afraid of confrontation and just really don't want to get my ass kicked...can anyone please give me advice? It will be muchly appreciated...I didn't know if this would fit better here or in Tilted Knowledge, if I made a bad judgement, please move it for me. :)

How bout you tell her respectfully that you were not aware she was attached and that you in no way intended to intrude on a relationship?

Ah now I would try that, but its not the girl I have a problem with. She flirted worse than I did...it is the guy who has decided to kick my ass. So if that was an option I would absolutely do it.

I don't know exactly what advice you're expecting us to give. It seems like you've already decided that this guy is a physical threat. Given that no one here can physically protect you, how can we help?

Either avoid the dude or reach out and try to make peace. I don't see a third option.

But back to the point. Do what shani said. If he still kicks your ass, you can laugh at him that he probably doesn't have a very good relationship.

Jealous guys are wankers anyway. If you handle things in a mature manner, and make sure the girl sees that, then she'll probably leave the asshole and go out with you. Obviously, she's interested in some way because she's flirting with you.

Be as nice as possible to the guy, and make sure that by doing so he ends up looking like a giant walking asshole complete with turd crusties. :)

Well, didn't get my ass kicked yet, as far as I know, however I was very inebriated almost all weekend, so for all I know my ass could have been kicked.

Sage hit the nail on the head. Jealousy is a huge turn-off for anyone. Take the beating like a man, make sure the girl sees it, and with any luck at all she'll dump him like a bad habit and go Florence Nightingale on you.

Just a personnel observation. He can't kick your ass if you shot him in the knee cap. A base ball bat from behind also works well.

Does he know where you live, work, and hang out? If not you don't have anything to worry about. If he does just try not to be alone anywhere.

First level for Karate, fourth level for Taekwondo. Not that it matters.
