ING Direct offering checking
I don't know if it is only for people who have a savings acct. with them but I got notice about a week ago of it, just posting info for people to look into it.
it offers a three tier interest rate setting based on the amount in the account. 0-49,999.99 = 3.00% APY 50,000.00-99,999.00 = 5.05% APY 100,000.00+ = 5.30% APY %'s current as of the original posting date of 1/26/07 Free ATM withdrawls from an ATM machine on the Allpoint network Free electronic checks to pay bills etc, just enter the payment details and ING will do the rest And you also get a Mastercard debit card to use on the account. I know there was a pretty big ING savings account thread going here, so I thought I would post this for others to see.

I got an e-mail notification from them a couple of weeks ago about it.
I don't know if there is any information on it other than what I got in the e-mail and I believe there is a link to open the account after you sign in, and go to the open an account link on the left side of the page right below the view my accounts link.

Hmm. The interest is tempting, but I have to say I like having an actual bank I can go too if things get screwed up. Plus I only keep a couple hundred dollars on my checking account at any one time.
$500 at 3% interest is about $15 a year. Yeah, I'll stick with what I have now. |
