what kind of stuff do you have to study? how you study depends on the subjects/info and with how you learn best.
best thing to do is to have started a lot early. not that i've ever started studying for a test more than 2 or 3 days in advance. |

If you get the time, make yourself a study guide with key terms in a chapter and concepts. Writing things down helps you remember them a bit more. Also, you can put terms on note cards, which I've found helps me greatly. If you can, one night have someone else test you on things, until you get all your notecards right. Before the test, don't try to memorize anything, but hopefully it'll get your brain into remembering those things. Hopefully this helps a bit.

ill also ask as well: what are you studying?
i find that the best way i study is to actually sit through as many past exams as i can find as well as work slowly through all my tutorial questions and learn the concepts/mathematics as i go, along with getting exposure to the type of questions to be asked. but then again u could be studying literature whereas i study commerce......

It all depends on what you're studying.
For mathematical subjects, practice is everything. Do as many problems as you can get your hands on. And do them with the books closed and the answers far far away. In general, I find that writing down notes, or crib sheets ( even if they're not allowed in the exam), summarizing the important points and concepts helps my recall of the subject. Good study habits really do help. Take a break every 45 minutes or so. (watching tv or surfing doesnt count as a break. REST your eyes, take a walk, snack, or something like that.) Music might help, but its more of a personal thing. I cannot stand noise of any kind when studying. Adequate sleep is important. Don't expect much to stay in your head if you're studying while exhausted. 8-9 hours of good sleep, and i guess at least 6 if you're pressed for time. If you're lacking motivation, get a study buddy. BUT make sure you are going to be encouraging each other to study, and not slacking off together. Having someone there to clarify matters helps greatly. If there's sufficient time, write down a list of concepts you're not clear about, and go for OFFICE HOURS. 1 hour of your teacher or professor answering your questions is worth 3 hours of trying to figure it out yourself. |

I make a mock test, and make copies of it. I go through it, and when I feel that an answer has become easy, I cross it off, and ignore it the next time I go over the sheet. I go over and over it, until everything is crossed off. Then I do it a few more times to mop up things I THOUGHT I had memorized but didn't. Cuts studying down to a few hours.
