Pain in rectum!

For the last few yrs I have been getting sharp pains inside my rectum,my sister told me once her best friends rectum had collapsed,I hope thats not the case with me but anyway describing the pain I feel there is verra hard to explain but the best the comes to mind is it feels like there is a huge hard knot or maybe even a hard glass ball that....darn I can't think of the correct description but lets just say it's not hemmoroids,I've had those, this is futher up inside of my rectum,I want to know if anyone else is going through this or knows someone who has???
Going to the loo to do #2 is dreadful for me because sometimes and I've been told is that I might have irritable bowel symdrone, sometimes there blood and other times not but since yesterday I have had that and this morning is when that pain started,I'm ok if I don't move around or sit down, laying for about an hour is helpful but tis all, please let me know this sounds like something anyone esle is going through.

Thankye,iceire:(

First...never read the TFP without your glasses on. I would've sworn the title to this thread was "Paint In The Rectum". I says to myself, Self, I said, you've gotta see what this is about, huh?".

Seriously...blood in the stool? Not good. Make an apointment to see the Doc...post haste.

see a doc, I had pain in my rectum as a part of my prostate infection, the prostate was spamming and causing pain, no blood for me though... be prepared for a finger going up there, its not that bad though, you need to get this checked out.

I have IBS and have never had pain like you've described. I also had bad hemmroids after the birth of my son and had significant pain...I guess it just depends on how bad they are. Regardless...you need to go to a doctor, ASAP, and not just rely on the advice of all the non-physicians on this board...so please make an appointment today!

Thank the lot of ye for ye speedy replies, unfortunately I cannot afford a doctor due to no insurance...the health care in this country is sad,my mum and da had free health care in Ireland and since I was born here I do not have the option to go to Ireland,I went to my local Urgent Care and was told my case is out of their hands but they did give me referrals which does me no good...but again I thankye verra verra much!

Slainte,iceire

If theres blood its most likely something you cant afford to ignore. and since its been bothering you for a few years... you better just go. Its cheaper to treat it now then if it gets worse and you end up in the emergancy room. alot cheaper.

It sounds somewhat like proctalgia fugax (Google it), except for the bleeding.

Hemmorhoids sometimes occur inside the rectum - not just at the end. Or it could be a fissure - they can bleed.

Take faith in what I read recently - "The more common a problem is, the less chance it's something serious."

However, you've got to get to a doctor to find out what it isn't. Once he eliminates some of the serious stuff, you'll at least be able to not worry so much about it.

Because most of the things that cause rectal pain are not serious.
But don't use that as an excuse to blow off seeing a doctor.

Keep in mind, iceire, that doctors usually charge less for non-insured patients. Also, there is always the local health department- you pay them on a sliding scale so you might get your visits and meds for free.

I fought the tempation when this thread was new, and it's been eating at my soul ever since.

Honestly. I'm trying to fight it. But it's just too strong.

Rectum!? Damn near killed 'im!

Whew. Much better.

Seriously though: doctor. Now, if not sooner.
