He's a beauty. I'd say he's got a lot of Jack Russell in him and with the eyes and whiskers chihuahua.

Dingo/queensland mix?
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/dingo.htm Look at the ears and face on this dog. http://www.dingo.org/gallery.html There are several that look a bit like Jake here. My dogs name is Jake too. He is a lab/mutt. I had a Dingo-Collie when I was a kid. GREAT DOG!!!! Yours is very precious looking. Congratulations.

Australian cattle dog is the AKC name for a "heeler". I agree, that looks like a cattle dog to me, especially with the ticked fur. Look up "australian cattle dog" and compare the pics to your dog and see what you think. These are great dogs, very energetic and need a lot of exercise but quite smart.

I'd say he's a cool looking dog! He'd look good wearing a bandana looking out the passenger side of a pickup! Or chasing a frisbee...

That's a cattle dog face. Maybe a Jack Russel body. Does he a have a whole HELLOFALOT of energy? That'd be a giveaway that he's got some Jack Russel in him.
He looks like a fun guy! Congratulations--I'm sure you'll have a blast with him. |

Could we get a full side profile of the dog?? From these pics, to me the crown of the head is similar to a Staffordshire Terrier. The ears are some sort of shepherd or cattle dog for sure. The nose throws me off a bit but it could just be how I'm looking at it. A full profile from the side would help out
Smart looking pup ya got there |

What a pretty dog! Congrats on adopting.
I saw a dog like yours when I was in Zambia last summer... they were domesticated, belonged to the Dutch missionaries who lived on a farm where we were camping. Believe they were heelers, too. Have fun!!

I was going to say dingo as well, but I will go with "Mexican Bottle Brush Dog"
(every dog needs a pedigree)

I will also wager there's a good bit of Australian Cattle Dog in his mix.
That white blaze on his forehead is a referred to as a "Bentley Mark". This is one of my most recent pics of my dogs. The one on the right is the ACD & has a prominent Bentley Mark. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/hasfurrychildren/262503319/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/122/262503319_bfab6e99bb.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="They have their doubts" /></a> Your dog's coat however is much shorter, but has the spotty markings that are brought to the breed from the mix with dalmation. Whatever is in his mix, I say who cares! Same as my dog on the left. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Thank you for adopting. He's a gorgeous dog & I bet you're in love already. :) PS. Australian Cattle Dog & Queensland Heeler are the same thing as far as I've heard & been told.
There's blue heelers & red heelers & mixes in between. Disco, you got a pic of your dog? : ) Also, there's a nice little group on flickr devoted to Australian Cattle Dogs: http://www.flickr.com/groups/acd/

Disco, Please excuse me. I am a dork who rushes around too much.
But yes, your heeler (or giant Chihuahua) is definitely red, not blue.
