Theres some bull terrier in there I wager... Whatever he is he is HANDSOME!
Whats his name? (How do you post pics???) |
He's a beauty. I'd say he's got a lot of Jack Russell in him and with the eyes and whiskers chihuahua.
|
thats what I thought, maybe some queensland heeler???
His Full name is Organge Julius Ceaser, but I call him "jake" |
Dingo/queensland mix?
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/dingo.htm Look at the ears and face on this dog. http://www.dingo.org/gallery.html There are several that look a bit like Jake here. http://www.dingo.org/images/dogs/blue2.jpg My dogs name is Jake too. He is a lab/mutt. I had a Dingo-Collie when I was a kid. GREAT DOG!!!! Yours is very precious looking. Congratulations. |
I would say a bit of blue/red heeler in the mix..we were blessed with Jim a mix of both and Jake and Jim could pass for brothers (at least cousins) BTW Jake is a beauty and looks highly intelligent...dont forget doggie skool!!!
|
Australian cattle dog is the AKC name for a "heeler". I agree, that looks like a cattle dog to me, especially with the ticked fur. Look up "australian cattle dog" and compare the pics to your dog and see what you think. These are great dogs, very energetic and need a lot of exercise but quite smart.
|
I'd say he's a cool looking dog! He'd look good wearing a bandana looking out the passenger side of a pickup! Or chasing a frisbee...
|
That's a cattle dog face. Maybe a Jack Russel body. Does he a have a whole HELLOFALOT of energy? That'd be a giveaway that he's got some Jack Russel in him.
He looks like a fun guy! Congratulations--I'm sure you'll have a blast with him. |
His skull shape looks like a pit bull, but his snout looks like a german shepherd.
Bet he's a sweet dog, no matter what he is:thumbsup: |
Thanks for all your comments, he is quite a cool dog
|
Could we get a full side profile of the dog?? From these pics, to me the crown of the head is similar to a Staffordshire Terrier. The ears are some sort of shepherd or cattle dog for sure. The nose throws me off a bit but it could just be how I'm looking at it. A full profile from the side would help out :)
Smart looking pup ya got there  |
Me & Jake are going hiking today....I will get a "side profile" on our adventure today...THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS THEY ARE HELPING A LOT
|
What a pretty dog! Congrats on adopting. :)
I saw a dog like yours when I was in Zambia last summer... they were domesticated, belonged to the Dutch missionaries who lived on a farm where we were camping. Believe they were heelers, too. Have fun!! |
I was going to say dingo as well, but I will go with "Mexican Bottle Brush Dog"
(every dog needs a pedigree) |
Beautiful pup!! how's his temperament?
|
I'll cast another vote for Australian cattle dog, at least part. He's a cutie pie :D
sweetpea |
I will also wager there's a good bit of Australian Cattle Dog in his mix.
That white blaze on his forehead is a referred to as a "Bentley Mark". This is one of my most recent pics of my dogs. The one on the right is the ACD & has a prominent Bentley Mark. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/hasfurrychildren/262503319/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/122/262503319_bfab6e99bb.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="They have their doubts" /></a> Your dog's coat however is much shorter, but has the spotty markings that are brought to the breed from the mix with dalmation. Whatever is in his mix, I say who cares! Same as my dog on the left. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Thank you for adopting. He's a gorgeous dog & I bet you're in love already. :) PS. Best link I know of about Cattle Dogs: http://www.cattledog.com/misc/history.html |
bernadette-
your dog on the right looks a lot like my dog! Definentely a cattle dog...is that the same as a queensalnd heeler? I was told only heelers have the coloring of my dog... |
Australian Cattle Dog & Queensland Heeler are the same thing as far as I've heard & been told.
There's blue heelers & red heelers & mixes in between. Disco, you got a pic of your dog? : ) Also, there's a nice little group on flickr devoted to Australian Cattle Dogs: http://www.flickr.com/groups/acd/ |
Yes, I started this post, the dog @ the top is the dog that we are talking about, he has the bentley mark and I think that he is a red heeler right?
|
Thats a giant Chihuahua.
Trust me. |
Disco, Please excuse me. I am a dork who rushes around too much.
But yes, your heeler (or giant Chihuahua) is definitely red, not blue. |
I'm with the Australian Cattle dog votes. I was definitely thinking Chihuahua at first, but something about the ticking threw me off on that...
