Immigration to Canada (Quebec) I'm not sure where to start
Hi,
I'm 24 and in love with a French Canadian. I'm also at a point in my life where I would like a change. After a lot of discussion (most of it happy planning!) Julie (my gf) and I want to move in together. I love Minneapolis, but she has two years of school left (shes 22 and going part time while she works) so her moving here is not only harder but also unpractical at this juncture. I love Montreal (have been frequently) and am very excited to move there. Enough Background here is the pertinent information ![]() Date: early fall next year (need some time to save money) Qualifications: School: I have a liberal arts degree with majors in Political Science and Advertising (copywriting emphasis) Work: I have been doing Tech Support for the last three years (one of which was in College) and I was an associate Copywriter for a year also doing Public Relations. Language: I'm working on learning french but its at a very early stage. Basically I have searched for Canadian Jobs but am not sure how I should go about immigrating. Do I get a visa first? Do I get a job first? I've noticed that there are a lof of services to help you out (mostly immigration lawyers) but I don't know about the benefits of doing that. ![]() Help! ![]()

Having never had to immigrate, I don't know if I can help you.
I will say one thing though... watch out for organizations attempting to "help" you immigrate. There are a number of scams being run. They ask for large sums of cash to do things you can do for free or will tell you that it will get you bumped up the line faster. Other than that, I'd say your best best is to peruse the Canadian Government website. There should be some good information there.
