Dogs - Dogfood
I use (or I should say my dog uses) Nutro. I think it's really good but a bit expensive. I wouldn't mind trying cheaper, comprable alternatives. Anyone know of any good dog food brands out there? Does anyone make their own?

Beneful and Purina One are my preferences, but it more or less depends on the size of the pup/moose.

From a recent thread that can no longer find, it was recommended to use homemade dog food because it is more nutritious and less expensive. Try googling for recipes.

The most important thing when buying dogfood is to read the ingrediant list, and make sure whatever food you choose has meat listed as the first ingrediant. They are carnivores, and dont need to be eating something that has corn or wheat as the main ingrediant.

Eukanuba. Nuff said.

I've used a wide range of foods depending on Cooper's needs at the moment. For a while her coat was kind of dull, so we went with the best omega 3:6 ratio, which was (I think) Back to Basics, which we ordered in bulk online, which made it fairly inexpensive compared to a lot of other premium brands. California Natural is another good brand that we used once her coat was better.
When our vet told us she was a little underweight, we went with what the vet recommended which was Eukanuba High Performance formula, and now we've switched to Science Diet because she's gained the weight and that's what our "step-dog" Shorty eats. They are back and forth between our houses so often that they eat each other's food, and we thought it would be easiest if they were just eating the same stuff. |
I'm using Pedigree and my dogs seem very healthy. Not as pricey but healthier than most cheap dog food.

We're also a Science Diet family. Our dog likes it, and she has excellent digestive health, as well as a shiny healthy coat.
