Flabby gut
I've posted something everywhere else, might as well post here too. A year and a half ago I weighed about 190 pounds, now I'm about 155 tops. 6 foot tall. No I'm not the strongest person in the world, but at least now I'm not real fat. My problem is that I have a really flabby gut, when I got fat as a kid it happened really fast, and I got alot of stretch marks on my belly. Now I seem to have a ton of extra skin there that is really lose and really kills my confidence, I don't even like girlfriends to see my stomache, forget about going swimming somewhere public. What can I do to get rid of this, just thousands upon thousands of situps? or is there some other way? Would toning up my abs even really do anything besides give me a great 6 pack hidden under a ugly stomach?

Just do normal cardio and lift some wieghts. Time will bring that skin back into line unless you're 60 years old!! Be patient.

Yeah nothing will really bring the skin back in except time. Situps only work the muscles below the skin. I have no idea how long it takes for skin to readjust itself, but just keep working out and it should eventually work itself out.

I thought that once skin was stretched out that much it couldn't return to it's normal state. Maybe you could have cosmetic surgery to get rid of the extra skin?

That is one reason why you should go slow when you gain and lose weight. Look into what pregnant, and recently pregnant women do to prevent stretch marks and try and remove them afterwards. Maybe there are some laser surgery options or skin dermibrasion thing you can look into.
As for the loose skin, you can gain muscle or get a tummy tuck if it is really bad. If you went from 190->155, I couldn't imagine there being that much extra skin. It might just take a little time to come back and tighten up a little. |

All you have to do is keep the weight off, moisturize, and let the collogen in your skin tighten up. |

I have the same problem going from 275 -> 171 July 05 until July this year, my skin was real flabby earlier this year but as I exercise and time goes by its tighting up. Its a slow process and I was at my max weight for about a year. I'm skinny by nature not sure if thats a factor or not...
Also, a lot depends on how long you were heavy, the supermodels that had children only had a couple of months of streched skin so it snaps back quicker than if you were overweight for years... Last edited by Catdaddy33; 08-11-2006 at 03:05 AM.. |
