IRA
Hello all,
I recently opened an IRA account through E-Trade. Even though I have about three years of experience with investing in mutual funds through Edward Jones, I would like to gain some additional experience and knowledge on investing in an IRA. Does anyone have any good suggestions for investments in an IRA? I have been looking at the Dodge & Cox family, as my broker recommended them, and I also hold them in my 401k. I am 22 years old, right out of college with zero debt. I have a solid job working in state government and substancial cash in the bank. (Worked through college and make wise monetary decisions.) Thanks, Tornadored |

I recommend taking a look at the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index (VTSMX) if you want a diverse fund with a really low expense ratio. The fund has more than 3,700 equities that vary in sector from consumer goods to tech to utilities and in size from small cap to large. The broad mix makes it a good core holding for any portfolio.
