Unpaid property tax and filing

I remortgaged last year and didn't set up escrow. My fault I guess, but I had assumed that the summer prop tax was paid.

Got the winter bill in Nov, but actually didn't pay em till Feb of this year after I got my statement from the city.

Now, when filing my taxes.. it asks if I paid those.

I didn't pay them in 2005, but were part of 2005.. can I enter them as paid on my filing, or would I have to just add 2005 AND 2006 when I do my taxes next year?

You can only claim them in the year that you actually paid them.
