Popped my wrist... Bad?
Hi everyone,
I was working at the gym today, trying to pull a barbell up too fast and my wrist popped. I felt like one of those pops where you crack your knuckles. So now my wrist hurts when I turn my palm facing up. Should I get a wristband or something? I'm worried there could be some permanent internal damage. Thanks. |
Could be just stuff moving around. On the other hand, could be worse.
My advice... give it a rest for a while. Maybe ice it a few times for a bit (ice on the hand is painful though). I don't think wristbands do much actually. |
My wrists give me a lot of trouble. I cracked a bone in my right wrist 15 years ago and it still bothers me. I've sprained the same wrist in a car accident. It gives me a lot of trouble now. I have seen Dr's for it and they mostly just give me those braces to immobilize it. Or gave me muscle relaxants or pain pills. Nothing more than that. I went to a chiropractor for other things after that accident and he worked wonders on my wrist. Since then I've had a Surgeon recommend that I go to a certain Chiropractor for things too. I would suggest that you could go, have the chiropractor check it out and ask him what you can do to protect your wrists while lifting. I think prevention would be the best course of action.

wrist injury
what ever you do, do not lift on it. wrist injuries are the worst bc it prevents you from doing many exercises. see a doctor before you workout again for sure!

More than likely, you just irritated the cartilege or tendons. I'd take some Aleve (barring stomach issues/allergies/other drug interactions I wouldn't know about) and ice it a bit. If it lasts longer than about 10 days with no lifting/usage, talk to an ortho person - hand specialist if possible, or sports medicine.
