Snorting saltwater...

I've heard of people doing this to clear out their nose if it's congested or what not. Does it actually work though? Is it safe at all?? I might want to actually give it a go but I was just wondering if there are any risks...

There is a thread someplace here that addresses that very topic. Should be someplace in H & F. Maybe there is a way to search the archives??

Searching for Sinus Rinse might get you more results. Same for searching the forums. I think Shani Faye had a thread about sinus rinses a few weeks ago.

exponent...

ive been an advocate for salt snorting for a while now..i like to call it "snorting the white stuff" though.

i do it when i can feel a migraine coming on..usually my migraines are related to my sinuses, and a quick snort usually produces instant migraine relief (within a few mins).

usually i get lukewarm water and put some salt in it say a table spoon (i like it concentrated, but whatever your comfortable with i guess).. i mix it together and then snort it up each nostril. it gives me a shooting pain through the back of my neck and a burning sensation in my sinus area. usually thos abates between 1-5 minutes.

for me..it works..beats having migraines all night trust me... as for te safety of it all.. im not sure..but it cant be all that different for taking in some seawater if you swim in an ocean everyday...

my mother had sinus problems..she had an operation and the dr told her that although she had the operation her sinus problem would come back at some stages and that the best solution was the salt water solution.. but ask your dr first i guess.

My wife had migraines. After all the research, we learned it was a chemical imbalance. One of the signs one was coming were sinus-like symptoms. But is wasn't really sinus problems.

If it's really a migraine nothing external will help. My wife found things like imetrex helps, along with getting off the pill and some med they use for blood pressure, even though she doesn't have BP prblems.
