Going To Quebec City, PQ
 

This might be better suited in The Canada Forum, but I thought I'd try here first...

I am planning on driving home to Ottawa during my March Break and I was thinking about stopping over for a day in Quebec City.

I'm not interested in hearing about tourist attractions, since I'll research them on my own.

What I'm looking for is a place to stay. Specifically a cheap place to stay. I'm considering sleeping in my car because I'll only have enough money to do that, or little more...

I guess I'm looking for 'affordable but not dumpy', but not in the 'might get shot' area of town.

Ideally I'd hear about someone or get to know someone from TFP who could hold me up for a night... but that's wishful thinking...

Anyway... any help will be appreciated...

I stayed in a Youth Hostel in the Old Quebec City. I don't have the name, but Google Youth Hostels in QC and call around. I believe it was around $15 a night.

I LOVE old Quebec City. Granted, I've only been there once old enough to enjoy it. But it's an amazing place, so much to see just walking around aimlessly. The buildings, the streets, everything. I love that city and I love Montreal just as much. Sadly my french has degraded so far that I would have trouble moving to a place like Quebec City, although Montreal would be safe.

I can't help you either way, it was like 8 years ago and I stayed with a friend at his folks' apartment. But I envy you.
