Swimming Grottos?
At some point in the future when I puchase (or build) the house that I will spend the rest of my life in I think it would be great to put in a swimming grotto. Does anybody have one or know somebody who has one? Who would I contact about the construction of a swimming grotto, a landscaper, a pool installation service or both? I would imagine that a lot of the landscaping portion could be done by myself with the help of a few friends. There is of course the probable possibility that such a project would be prohibitively expensive but I have no idea of actual cost due to the seeming lack of information on the internet about the installation/maintenence/pricing of both the pool and landscape portion of a project such as this. I created this post to see if anyone has any helpful knowledge on the subject. I am a college student so I have a while before I will be able to purchase a home, but I can dream can't I?

I have no clue how to build a swimming grotto, but what I would do firstly is speak to an architect. Only an architect would be able to design what would be needed, and then you would hire a pool contractor to build said grotto based on the architects designs.
One important thing you need to include though is lotsa bodacious babes in skimpy bikini's (clothing optional) like at the playboy mansion. drooooool.

I can't say that I know much about building a swimming grotto, but I did manage pools for a while when I was younger. Personally, after having done all the maintenence on a large pool I would never want to own one. However, if you have enough money to afford a place where one would fit in, you can probably pay to have someone take care of it too.
I would really think long and hard about it though. How often will you uses it? Will you be entertaining guests often? will one really look good in a normal sized back yard? etc. Once you have decided to do it you will definitely need an architecht, or some sort of pool company that does cu$tom job$. I would shy from trying to do much of the work yourself. It is going cost one hell of a lot to put just a normal pool in, sowhy cut corners and run the risk of part of it looking like crap. Go all the way if you are going to do it. IMHO I think a grotto style hot tub would be a better investment. Certainly easier to maintain, will fit into a smaller back yard, and will probably get more use. Unless of course you are pulling off a true playboy lifestyle. In which case you need to invite me over! |
