Before you do anything, you might want to take your stuff to a collector or a good hobby shop that deals in Lionel.
The old stuff can be worth some serious money, but a botched repair or restoration can ruin the value. I wish I had had this advice 25 years ago before I "fixed" my old California Zephyr dome coach with some silver paint. But if you don't care, you can do it yourself if you are somewhat handy. If it still runs, it probably just needs a good cleaning. Myself, I would take it into a train shop. |
so little trust.........this engine is worth about 400-500$$$ as is......also got a Burro crain and lots of track, switches and cars...........xoxoxoo

/me salivates...
I love old trains... my dad's old set from when he was a youngin... (probably late 30's early 40s) is over at their place... and it still runs... every christmas i get to put together the tracks and get it up and running around my mother's christmas village... When i was younger, I had a table in the basement that the multiple train sets and electric car sets ran on - I had a complete city highway system set up... and the collissions were so much fun... cars could fly pretty far when hit by a moving train... (I soooo wanted to be gomez adams) have fun with your trains, Lebell's right, i'd take them to a collector and find out what you need to do to have them restrored properly... If you want to do it yourself, they should have the tools to help you procede. Pictures, we'd love to see pictures |
