recommend stud finder?
Hi, i have plaster\lathe walls, the upstairs has been "wood paneled" on top of some 1x3s. I have a fairly generic 5 dollar stud finder that sometimes can find the stud, but most of the time its finding the 1x3s...anyone know of a good "deep" stud finder that wont cost me a fortune and will find my studs behind a couple inches of plaster\wood panelling etc?
Many thanks! Rad |

I had a relatively cheap one that did regular and deep scans and it never had any trouble finding the studs...
This christmas I was given the black and decker stud finder with a laser level... it's probably more than I really need (I wouldn't have bought it for myself) but it has: laser lever (great for hanging shelves and picutres and I've used it a few times already) regular and deep scan a sensor for hot wires (very handy actually) and more stuff that I am sure will seem useful when I actually need it. Needless to say, I like it. Even if it is 2 to 3 times the size of my older (and still in use) stud finder.
