Bored Projects

Ok, so here is the deal. I'm sure that there are other people who do/start/think about projects at random when they are bored. For me, when I reach that point of boredom, I walk out to the garage, without even having an idea, and start building something. In the past, I've built things ranging from spud cannons, to complete light fixtures.

So, now having said all of that, what types of things do you build, what sites do you look at that have interesting projects?

Just another of my many random thoughts.

I make wallpapers, the computer variety, usually I get about 1-2 finished ones that I'm happy about, and plenty more that I never finish because I got bored of that.

Though I would love to be able to make something useful like you're doing.

I watercooled my computer cause i was bored.. and lately i've been doing webdesign which has exploded into a part time job. I get a few jobs a week and i end up working more hours on it then my day job (40+ hours), it pays well but its way too stressful.

I started building micro pcs and trying to put them into the smallest case possible. Case moding is fun too

I'm going to start building a really elaborate beer bong sometime soon. Somehow I'm going to make it plug-and-play with 40 oz. bottles, although I haven't quite figured out how the air intake is going to work without losing beer (a turbocharger type device might be fun). It will hold up to one gallon and will support up to 4 people. Oh, and it will have a shut-off valve for spew control (not for me, of course).

i like to steal street signs and place them in the ground in other places. One time i had people stopping on my block every 5 feet.

*sigh* I want a nice lucrative hobby...Something that makes a little money on the side. Right now, I read books on training dogs.
Making stuff costs too much money. :p

street prostitution maes money on the side.

you can just take the money up front and just give them a backrub and say thanks.

they cant complain because they were being illegal in the first place.

*sighs*

I'd love to do these, but most of the time, I become unmotivated to spend the $ on the project or to even complete it. Right now, I'm trying to build a pretty nice/metal DDR pad using a standard ps1 controller....

The projects that I'm doing now that are successful are my compost pile and collecting rain water from outside [via buckets and stuff]. Eventually, I want to get a inground reservoir for the water.
 Using the rain water, the garden usually only needs to be watered via the hose once or twice a week.

*sighs again* *laments that he's not as creative as he used to be*

i'm never really bored, but i've got a computer set up as a home-theater pc that has been the object of my free-time lately.

it integrates dvd, cable tv (with recording/timeshifting straight to disk) music, photos, weather forecasts, internet radio, game emu's etc. through a sweet interface. it's controlled via wireless mouse/kb or a remote control. i bought a nice piano black case that blends into my living room well... not sure i'll ever go back to a home theater w/out an integrated pc.
