I dont supose anyone out there could teach me Gaelic?
Half Irishman here and i've always wanted to learn about my family history and I figured language was a good place to start.
Any help will be greatly apreciated and honor in hat form will be given in return.

Here's some gaelic for you "Tiocfaidh Ár Lá" which means Our Day will come / Tomorrow is ours. It's the catchphrase slogan of Sinn Fein. Celtic football club also use it. Sometimes a little contraversial, however it's a good one and undoubtedly as Irish as Guinness!!!

I've been interested in Gaelic myself but it's a hard one to get into. I know a few words but nothing to write home about.

Running around saying "Tiocfaidh Ár Lá" is NOT a good start to learning Irish. It is a slogan of the IRA a terrorist organisation. The "our day" in quesion is the day that the current ruling power of Northern Ireland is overthrown by their violent terrorist methods.

Regardless of the connotations, how would one pronounce that? I'm pretty sure that Tee-ock-fade Are Lah is more wrong than the Ptolemaic solar system.

Are you just looking for a couple of words, or are you actually looking to speak the language?

Dia Dhuit = Hello
pro: Dee Ah Ghu-ith
(literally God be with you, Dia = God, Duit = to/with you)

Dia 's Muire Dhuit = Hello (used to reply to Dia Dhuit)
pro: Dee ah iss(like hiss) murr-ah ghu-ith
(literally God and Mary be with you, Muire = Mary)

Conas atá tú? = How are you?
pro: Cun ass ah taah too?

Tá mé go maith = I am well
pro: Taah may guh mah

X is anim dom = X is my name
pro: X iss an imm dum

Póg mo thóin = Kiss my ass
P-oh-g muh ho-in

If there is any specific word or phrase you are looking for, ask me and if I can, I'll post it....I'm pretty rubbish at speaking Irish though!

De reir a cheile a thogtar na caisleain - It takes time to build castles (I kinda like that one -- this could also translate to -Patience, Grasshopper)
Nil moran Gaeilge agam - I do not know a lot of Gaelic
Póg mo thoin - Kiss My Ass (this is pronounced Pog Mahone - -there's a bar in Chicago, near the board of trade called Pog Mahones, - every time I see it I giggle a little and think of my grandfather)

it's pronounced as "Chocky Are Lar" and I agree it is not the best thing to be shouting in a public house in Belfast :D

Tá mé i grá leat. Taah may i' (like in) graah lath
or more usually:
Táim i grá leat. Taah-im...

I'm not sure if Irish has an equivalent word for 'lady', the closest I think is 'bean' which means 'woman'
so:
mo bhean. Muh van
but this would normally be taken to mean "my wife" (mo bhean chéile).
