Read music?
OK, so I've been playing Bass for about five years now and I finally hit my breakthrough. I now dont think that I suck completely, which is awesome for me because I've been sucking hardcore for a while now. It's about damn time!! Well, I've been checking out these tabs that people post and on the net and I was thinking that it would be really cool to be able to read music (because tabs can't exactly convey the notes accurately all the time). Does anyone here know how to read music? Please give me some tips or guide me somewhere I could at least start. Thanks in advance!

I asked the same question in this thread a few months ago and got some very helpful responses.
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=69798 It wasn't guitar related though (if that's the sort of help you're after). You might have more luck PM'ing a few of the guitar players on the board. Good luck. |

Practice Practice Practice. Know that the lines of the staff represent the same notes as the strings on a guitar, and the open spaces spell F A C E. Find some music you already know and read it, try to get used to sightreading. Then try some stuff you're familiar with but don't know very well to build up your skill at being able to sight read.
