How do I get the Fuser out of my LaserJet 4P?
I was 'offered' this 4P if I could change out the fuser for it. The repair shop wants a lot to do it. I know if I could get started, I wouldn't have any trouble doing it myself. Any guidance?
Thanks! |

Its not hard at all. Open the door in the back of the printer and you will see a black object with a big yellow warning label on it:
WARNING VERY HOT That is your fuser. On the HP LaserJet 4P there are only two screws holding it in. They bracket the fusing assembly to the frame at the bottom of the fuser. Its hard to describe without pics, but I'd be willing to bet you could find a service manual on ebay for real cheap. The service manual, not the user manual, will walk you through step by step on any maintenance you need to ever do on the printer. Hope that helps.

That does remind me...
You may have to completely remove the rear door in order to get it out. Its pretty easy to take the door off though, just a quick peak at it you'll figure it out. You won't have to take any of the other covers off though.
