Dog Puke & the couch

A few days ago, I woke up to the sounds of my wife yelling that the dog puked all over the couch. We got the stain out but the odor has been a problem. We tried a carpet/upholstery cleaner and Febreeze but it hasn't worked. Does anyone have a good method for getting the odor out?

Baking soda comes to mind, it's supposed to absorb odors.

Also, get rid of the dog.

Go to the pet store and buy one of the stain/smell removes that have enzymes... They remove anything... way better than Febreeze.

Charlatan has it right. A good one that I have experience with is Nature's Miracle

I have three dogs, and own one of these . It's not a cheap fix if all you're looking for is to clean up one mess, but it can definatly come in handy if your dog makes a mess often. My house would be a mess if I didn't have my Little Green Clean Machine (George Forman's making carpet cleaners now?) I've never had to use it on a stain that's had time to sit, but it's gotten everything out I've used it on so far.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still having problems with the smell so I'm going to try the Natures Miracle. She doesn't make enough messes for the Green Machine (but now that I said that......)

The magic of Natures Miracle doesn't seem too apparent as after two applications, the smell persists. I have since tried an upholstery cleaning machine with a solution for pet odors. It helped but not completely. Anyone else have ideas (short of replacing the couch)?
