Japanese text translation.
Can anyone translate this for me? A hunch says it's a haiku (or something to do with haiku) but I'm not sure.

It says that's a Haiku, but that's not really a Haiku. That doesn't follow the 5-7-5 rule. Anyways, that translates into:
A swimming purple colored goldfish, Yellow tadpole, in a jar of ink. |
i have studied japanese a long while ago so could only be of limited help. i still could understand almost all the kanji yet the words in hiragana and katakana i couldnt make sense of.
yes, it\\\'s haiku (the two characters in the right column). then the second column to the right says: a swimming purple goldfish. the first two characters in the third column to the right means: yellow. hope this helps a little bit until someone provides you a real translation. edit: i see someone has already provided the real translation while i typed the above up. good good. |
I'd love to study Japanese or Chinese - do any of you have suggestions as to the best way of going about it?
|
there are classes that you can attend at local schools (some are at night, designed for non-students), and you could always find a native tutor to give private lessons or do language drills. one thing to keep in mind is that if you don\'t use the newly learned language often enough, it\'s very easy to forget it all even after you have studied it quite long. i had studied japanese for two years in college yet now only about 1% of what i learned is still with me.

Thanks for the translations, Desario and jaded.

you are welcome, phukraut. glad to identify those long-time-no-see characters once in a while.
