Dress Pattern
I wasnt sure the best place to put this, so if this isnt right please move it
Do we have any seamstresses here? I have found the almost perfect picture of what I want my wedding dress to be...I cant find a pattern for it (I can for all the other dresses this site has) in McCalls, Butterick, Simplicity, or Vogue. I want the same dress, but with shoulder straps coming from the bodice (I would like to cover tattoos I have on each shoulder). I cant attach the picture here but here is a link to the dress, my colors are going to be hunter green brocade and ivory http://www.celticdesade.com/weddingdress.jpg I thought if someone here sewed they might have seen this pattern, or one similar somewhere, AND how hard it would be to modify the pattern to put shoulder straps on it |
I've done a little bit of sewing, not as much with clothes though. If you're trying to do straps from the bodice, do you know how thick you want the straps to be? Closing the open seams should be to hard, and you can always add some gold tubing on the edge, or lace if you've got extra fabric laying around.

I finally got ahold of the place that makes this dress...they said they would make the dress for me and send me extra material so that I could have a seamstress here add the straps so that we can make sure they are placed correctly YAY looks like I have a wedding dress all picked out now :)

That sounds great Shani! The best way to go :)

That's a great looking dress Shani. I worked in apparel manufacturing for 15 years, and now it's more of a hobby. I managed a factory for 6 of those years and spent the rest of the time as a mechanic and engineer. Over the years I learned to sew quite well. Most people crack up when my wife tells them I do the sewing in the family. Glad you got a solution.

I agree with transient, I am pleased you have a solution
