Does anyone know anything about Feng Sui?
I decided that it might make my life a little better (if not a little more interesting) if I rearranged my room (one room apt). I thought it might be a cool idea to fix everything with a correct feng sui. Does anyone know anything about Feng Sui and how to arrange a room accordingly?
Thanks in advance

Apart from the fact that I think it's complete and utter nonesense, you may want to check out http://www.srikumar.com/feng_shui.htm
It seems like a rather comprehensive web-portal Mr Mephisto |

Yup it's complete utter bullshit. There was a penn and teller bullshit episode on it. You might as well hang a dead chicken around your neck for the same effect.

My former boss hired a Feng Shui monk to help planning the house.
He (boss) didn't care much for it, but his wife insisted. The monk helped them with floorplanning and the colours to be used. The house looks very nice - but any decorator could have achieved the same results.

Feng shui plays a big part. I believe it in, heard of people's lives turned over just because they're feng shui got disrupted over some new building or bad setting
:P I know this one : don't place your bed in such a way that your feet will face the door when you sleep, brings bad luck/invites negative energy. |

Having grown up in a household that believes in it fervently and knows some of the leading practitioners, contrasted with a very practical and scientific learning, I've come to the conclusion that Feng Shui is a mix of common sense room arrangments mixed with some unproveable superstitions.
I've seen a few instances of coincidence that reaffirm my belief in it, but at the same time, I've also seen counter examples. Use some common sense when arranging. Don't place your desk with your back facing the major doorways. If you must, put a mirror on the monitor to see behind you. Stuff like that. What kind of objects are you placing and what kind of space are you in? Most practicitioners need to arrange things specifically for the room in relation to the larger environment of the building and surroundings. |
