HP 610c PRINTER PISSING ME OFF!
 

ive never had any trouble with ym printer until the day i really needed it. i cant print anything. i have it on the printer port 1. and use only black ink to print and it doesnt print. it makes sound and turns on but when i print the orange button flashes, i press the orange button and nothing happens. i went to the HP site to look for a driver but since im using XP theres no driver needed. what can i do?

I assume you've tried to print a test page and checked that you have communication between the printer and computer. If all this failed then the printer is probably ready for the trashcan. Fixing it would cost way more than a new printer. Printers have become so cheap that they're disposable anymore. I've got a HP722C that cost me $300 a few years back. Now I can buy a new, better quality printer for $99.

got the same printer. i think something's stuck inside...make sure the printer is off, then lift up the cover and try to gently move the block where the cartridges attach. if that doesn't work, try to remove and re-install the ink cartridges.

lastly, the drivers are built-in on winXP, just "Add a Printer" then let it detect it and then select HP Deskjet 610c.

Printers are cheap... they just jacked up the cost of the frickin' cartridges.

You said that you had a black cartrige in the printer, do you have a color and it's just empty, or do you not have a color cartiage in the printer at all? Some printers will not print unless a cartrige is in both slots, even if the second is empty. You can pick a catriage up at your local Staples ;). (Staples Employee)

that printer is how old 5+ years? You got your money out of it, and yes it works great when you are not trying to print anything but who cares. If you are just doing B&W get a brother 1440 lazer printer for $120, prints way better quality than any ink jet and is way cheaper to run.

my epson stylus 920 is also pissing me off
