If I wanted to learn a country's language because that country had hot chicks who didn't speak english too well... I'd learn Italian

most Icelanders speak english and speak it very well... so far the 3 trips I've been there I've not had to worry too much about not speaking the language especially when in the major cities.

What is quite impressive is that Modern Icelandic is still very much the same as the writings in the old Viking Sagas. In fact the Icelanders take great pride in the fact that they can read them.
