Okay. I fucking hate headshops, and I have NO money.

I wanna make a nice little pipe, or bong, out of something that's common.

well, do you have any parefenalia? If you do, you may be able to adapt the bowls to new pieces that seem new. Just bring a few bucks into the hardware store and you can get some good shit. But dont ever use copper, and aluminum is just nasty. Check the local discount stores, you can find vases that make grood bongs if you can dremel a hole in them for the stem.

If I wanted to go out and buy more stuff, I would just buy a piece.

I mean like, everyday household items.

Light bulb socket with plug and plastic covering around it, wooden bowl, light bulb, glass lamp chimney/cover/whatever you call it, rubber balloon, alluminum foil, and a bit of plastic bendable tubing (small, like an inch diameter).

Drill a hole in the wooden bowl big enough for the light socket, put the socket in the hole so that the bulb pokes out the bottom (so you can sit the bowl upside down and have the lightbulb pointing up), put the bulb in the socket, and form out of the alluminum foil a shape that fits over the light bulb and simultaneously forms a small bowl on top. Chop up any of your favorite *plants* and place the finest bits in the alluminum bowl. Then stick the lamp chimney on the bowl/surrounding the lightbulb setup (nice how it expands in the middle-bottom :D ). Then, take the balloon and cut a small, small hole in the top of hit, *and* cut the rim off the opening. Run the small plastic tubing through the little hole, then stick the newly limber original balloon opening snugly over the top of the lamp chimney. Put your thumb over the open end of the plastic tubing, plug in the light bulb, wait 60 seconds, or untill a fine mist (real fine, you'd be hard pressed to really notice it) starts to really be smoking off of the plant particles. Inhale untill it stops emitting the fine mist.

Edit: Oh, household items. An apple. Take the stem out, use a pencil to poke a hole from the stem to the middle-ish, them poke a hole from the side to the middle and through to the other side. Put the bowl in where the stem was, light it with your mouth on one side inhaling and your finger over the other, once it's burning nicely, take your finger off the other side. and keep inhaling.

Hey, you want cheap and SIMPLE? All you need is a beer can and a sharp instrument!!!!! :)
Finish your beer, dry out the can. Make a small dent in the bottom of the can (this will be the bowl)... which now becomes the TOP of the can. Just make it adequate enough so that the tobacco [that's what you're using, right?! ;)] doesn't slide off. Make a bunch of tiny holes with a knife in the dented in area. Make sure they are small enough so that your tobacco doesn't fall thru.. this is the screen. On the side of your can, make a carb hole... small enough that you can cover up with your thumb.

Lay down your smokes onto the screen. SPARK IT! Cover your carb hole. Suck on the part you drank your beer out of. When you inhale your smoke, let go of the carb hole, and finish the rest of your hit.

I just made a vaporizer out of nothing but a night light bulb. First use a hacksaw to cut the very tip of the metal part off. Being VERY careful to not break the bulb use a screwdriver to take out all the glass and metal shit that makes the light. You should just have a glass bulb shaped dome with a hole in the top now. Take your very finely ground 'tobacco' and put a little bit in the bottom. With your thumb over the hole heat the tip of the bulb which should be pointed down. This is the tricky part which takes some practise but if you do it right the bulb with fill with vapour and not smoke. Don't heat the bulb constantly or too long or else it will break or the 'tobacco' will burn and start to smoke. Once the bulb is full up take your finger off the top and use a straw to suck out all the vapour. THere is very little smell because there's no smoke so you can do this pretty much anywhere and blame the little smell there is on bad beans or something. You should NOT have any smoke and it tastes kinda minty.

Apples are easy and taste nice. I'm scared of inhaling that powdery stuff inside of most lightbulbs to use one of those, maybe a clear blub... If you have a bowl and a make shift stem, you can make a bong out of anything that will hold water. Gatorade bottles work well, or you could go with the classic honey bear. It's not rocket science.

in tropical climates....

need piece of foil and soda bottle.... find papaya tree. pull of leaf and stalk from tree. make cone out of foil, insert into large end of papaya stem. pack bowl. insert stem into bottle. cover opening with hand and inhale like playing flute. One can fill bottle with water... and in the dark... inhale snap the bowl hard to watch it glow thru the stem to clean out bowl. :)

Take a Frappucino Bottle, tap a hole in the cap off toward the edge, and put a piece of aluminum pipe in so it almosts touches the bottom. Tap another hole in on the other side, and put a piece of rubber tubing in so you have a foot or two outside of the bottle and an inch or two inside. Wrap enough duct tape around that it's airtight. Put a piece of screen patch (for window screens) over the pipe, push it down to form a bowl, and bend the rest down and secure it with a hose clamp.

What is the powdery coating on the inside of the bulb made of?

Hint: it's toxic

maybe that's what gives it that "special" kick.

My old housemates made a gravity bong out of a beer mug, the top of a little incense burner, and a Coke bottle. Fucked up my soldering iron putting a hole in the bottlecap though... damn stoners.

They cut the bottom of the bottle off and burnt a small hole in the cap. The part from the incense burner fits in the hole and holds the green. The beer mug is filled partway with water. With the cap off, stick the bottle in the mug and slide down till the opening is at the bottom of the mug. Put the cap with attachment back on, light, slowly pull up bottle until the bottom of the bottle is almost out of the water. You should seem some nice smoke inside the bottle now.

Remove cap, put you mouth around the mouth of bottle. Inhale while pushing the bottle down but be careful not to inhale any water.

I would assume its phosphorous but I forgot to mention to use a clear bulb :p . I also figured the stuff inside was toxic so I havent used a frosted bulb and it looks like I made the right choice.

Dont use a can like stated before. It burns off something that you dont want to be breathing in. The apple one is a good one. After you can eat the apple.

Wow, thats a neat idea for a vaporizer! I made a different kind of Lightbulb Vaporizer once and it worked alright but very annoying to use, especially since the lightbulb gets covered with this black stuff from the flame you had to hold under it. I might have to try this out :D

edit: yeah so i started this reply before the second lightbulb method was mentioned but anyone wanting to replicate it should follow the link in my post, it is quite thorough.

Another idea I just heard was to make a bong out of absolutely nothing. First, roll a joint and fill your mouth with water. Cup your hands together and make a seal around your mouth while holding the joint in between your hands. Tilt your head down and start to inhale. Keeping in mind the joint should not be in your mouth and the tip where you inhale will be close to the edge of your hand. Use a candle to light it and the water in your mouth should act like a bong. Just be careful to spit out the water after everyhit or you get bongwater in your mouth and all the crap you just filtered out gets into you anyways. If this is too confusing maybe I'll make a picture...

Cut the end of a broomstick off.

Use a drill, drill holes in the form of a pipe.. one going top/down into one end, and another going straight up the middle to the top/down hole.

Buy a water faucet screen for 50 cents from a hardware store, fit it inside the top/down hole.

You now have a nice pipe.
